Overview

Favorites provides a convenient way to bookmark frequently used records and navigation items across Matrix42 Enterprise applications, allowing users to access important information and commonly used areas with just a few clicks.

Whether you regularly work with specific tickets, knowledge base articles, or application views, Favorites helps you organize your workspace and quickly return to the items that matter most.

Unlike Recents, which automatically tracks recently viewed records, Favorites allows users to explicitly select and maintain their preferred items for quick access.

Key Capabilities

Bookmark Frequently Used Records

Users can add individual records to Favorites directly from their previews.

Supported objects include, for example:

  • Tickets and Incidents
  • Service Requests
  • Knowledge Base Articles
  • Other business objects available in Matrix42 Enterprise applications

To add a record to Favorites:

  1. Open the record in its preview.
  2. Click the star icon in the preview toolbar.
  3. The record is added to Favorites and becomes accessible from the global navigation bar.

Clicking the star icon again removes the record from Favorites.

This makes it easy to maintain a personalized collection of frequently accessed records.

Save Frequently Used Navigation Items

In addition to individual records, users can add application navigation items to Favorites.

This allows users to quickly access frequently used application areas, views, or navigation entries without navigating through the application menu each time.

For example, a Service Desk agent might bookmark frequently used ticket views, while an administrator might save navigation entries for configuration or administration areas.

Favorites provides a consistent way to access these items regardless of the application currently in use.

Quick Access from the Global Navigation Bar

The Favorites icon is available in the global navigation bar.

Clicking the icon opens a panel displaying the user’s saved items.

The panel provides:

  • A list of bookmarked records and navigation items.
  • Record names and object types to help identify saved items.
  • A counter showing the number of favorite items.
  • Direct navigation to a selected item.

Users can open their favorite records or navigate to saved application areas without repeating searches or navigating through multiple menus.

Search Within Favorites

The Search in Favorite Items field allows users to quickly locate specific items within their saved collection.

This is especially useful when users have bookmarked numerous records or navigation entries.

Instead of scrolling through the entire list, users can search for the required item and access it directly.

Manage Favorite Items

Users can easily add or remove items from Favorites as their needs change.

Favorites can be managed directly from supported record previews and application views using the star icon.

When an item is removed from Favorites, it disappears from the Favorites panel without affecting the underlying record or navigation entry.

Favorites vs. Recents

Matrix42 Enterprise provides two complementary capabilities for quickly accessing information:

Favorites

Recents

Items are explicitly bookmarked by the user.

Items are automatically tracked based on recent activity.

Provides quick access to frequently used records and navigation items.

Provides quick access to recently viewed records and active creation dialogs.

Items remain in Favorites until removed.

The list reflects recent user activity.

Best for frequently used or important items.

Best for returning to recent work and multitasking.

Recommendation: Use Favorites to maintain convenient access to important records and navigation items that you regularly need. Use Recents to return to recently viewed records or switch between active tasks.

Together, these capabilities make navigation across Matrix42 Enterprise faster, more personalized, and more efficient.
