    • File scan buffering. If this option is enabled, then all files on a drive are buffered, and then they are compared to the files in the File scan section. The files in the list are buffered.
    • Drives. Here you can specify which drive is to be buffered. This field has to be filled out if the file scan buffering option has been activated.

  • Additional options
    • Use User Principal Name (UPN) instead of Logon Name. Instead of the Windows logon name (e.g. michael) the UPN (e.g. michael@beispielfirma.xyz) will be determined.
    • Retrieve Asset Tag via Dellinfo.exe. Dellinfo.exe is executed for reading the Asset Tag of Dell Computers from the BIOS. Empirum Inventory (EmpInv.exe) has to be started with the /DMI execution parameter.
    • Retrieve operating system language. Returns the language of the operating system.
    • Scan network drive. If this option is enabled, then network drives are also scanned.
    • Alternate output file. If the output file which has been specified via the execution parameter /O cannot be opened, then the Alternative output file is used.
    • Error log file. Here you can specify the file in which the error messages are written.
  • Application Usage Tracking
    • Track all applications without excluded files. No AUT data will be collected for the applications entered in the section Exclude Files - AUT (Application Usage Tracking). For all other applications, AUT data will be recorded and shown in the Empirum Management Console.
    • Track only included files. AUT data will only be collected for the applications entered in the section Include Files – AUT.
    • Make user anonymous. When this option is selected, the AUT data will be recorded with the name Anonymous, instead of the actual user name.
    • Make usage and active time anonymous. When this option is selected, the time the application is open and actively being used will not be recorded.
    • Additional scan of all files related to the operating system. When this box is checked, all system files will be included in AUT.

Files belonging to the operating system can be recognized by the following setting:
Right-click a file (e.g. mspaint.exe) > Properties > Version tab > click on Company Name under Item Name – if Microsoft Corporation appears there, then the file is an operating system file.
