Defining the Sequence of Packages during Installation
Table of Contents
A package is assigned an internal ID when it is saved for the first time; this ID is necessary to define sequences and dependencies.
By default, installation starts with the software packages of the first tab from above in the software depot; the software packages in this tab are installed, starting with the top package, then the software packages of the second tab are installed etc.
To define the sequence when installing a software package:
- Right-click the software package for which a sequence shall be defined and click Properties…
- Select the Version tab (see Package Properties – Version dialog).
- Click Define… in the Version tab.
The Sequence dialog will be displayed. - Specify your settings and click OK to confirm.
- Click OK to close the Package Properties dialog and save your settings.
Sequence Dialog
Is used to define the installation sequence, e.g., to not install the service pack prior to the actual application. During installation, the sequence is changed according to the definition under Sequence of packages. This means that the packages are installed top-down, as defined under Sequence of packages, and then the selected package is installed.

-
Sequence of packages. Specifies the sequence of packages that shall be installed prior to the selected package.
A distribution command must be defined for the packages listed under Sequence. If no such distribution command is defined, the package will not be installed!
