Overview
The Empirum Core extension is a dedicated integration layer that decouples Empirum SDK components and workflow activities from the Matrix42 ESM Platform (ESMP). This separation eliminates version conflicts that can arise when ESMP updates and Empirum SDK releases are managed independently.
By packaging all Empirum-related DLLs and SDK elements into a standalone, versioned extension — released in lockstep with each Empirum SDK — customers gain a stable and predictable foundation for all Empirum-powered workflows in Matrix42 ESM.
PowerShell Execution
The execution of PowerShell that uses Empirum SDK capabilities within workflows requires reviewing/adjusting existing implementations after updating to ESMP 26.2 and installing the Empirum Core extension. Please review the documentation for details before updating ESMP. Former implementations would still work but are not as reliable.
Short description
The Empirum Core extension bundles all required Empirum DLLs, workflow activities, and SDK components needed to execute Empirum-powered workflows within Matrix42 ESM. It resolves compatibility issues that previously occurred when ESMP updates or SDK upgrades caused conflicts with embedded Empirum dependencies.
This extension is a prerequisite for:
- Using Empirum workflow activities in Matrix42 ESM workflows
- Executing PowerShell scripts within workflows that interact with Empirum
A dependency in the Empirum Inventory extension is defined. This will ensure Empirum Core is automatically available during cloud provisioning and Inventory updates, without requiring manual installation.
Installation
Empirum Core is installed automatically as part of the Empirum Inventory or UEM Extension installation and update process. It does not appear in the Extension Gallery and requires no manual action from administrators.

Versioning
The Empirum Core extension is versioned in alignment with the Empirum SDK. Each release of Empirum Inventory or the UEM Extension ships a corresponding Empirum Core version, ensuring SDK components and workflow activities always match the deployed Empirum environment.
