LogViewer: Enhanced Client Logging for Access Dialog Events
What's changing: FastViewer Desktop now records three additional values in the client log whenever an access dialog is triggered:
-
access_with_dialog(Boolean): Specifies whether the access confirmation dialog was enabled in the configuration. -
access_dialog_approved(Boolean): This value is available whenaccess_with_dialogistrue; it specifies whether access was approved by the user or automatically granted after the countdown expired. -
access_dialog_answered_by(String): Specifies how the access request was handled:-
USER: the user actively responded -
TIMER: the countdown expired, and the default action applied
-
Why it matters: These entries improve visibility into how remote access was authorized on each session, making it easier to audit access decisions and troubleshoot access dialog behavior.
Impact: This is a logging-only change; the access dialog's behavior and configuration options are unaffected. Anyone who reviews client logs, or any SIEM/log-parsing integration consuming FastViewer client logs, will start seeing these three new fields in log output.
Prerequisites: Requires the updated FastViewer Desktop version. No specific license or configuration change is needed; access_with_dialog is logged regardless of setting, and the other two fields populate automatically whenever the access dialog is enabled and triggered.
Responsibilities: Fully automatic. If you maintain custom log parsers or SIEM rules against FastViewer client logs, you may want to update them to account for the new fields.
Bugs Fixed
- Fixed an issue where the Remote Console displayed incorrect device status counts (Total: 0, Online: 0, In Use: 0, Offline: 0) when logging into Fastmaster using Entra ID authentication.
- Additional bug fixes and improvements.
