In order to view the current status of the activated group with the belonging objects, proceed as follows.

  1. Right-click the group, and select Show Status... from the pop up menu.
The Status for Group: <Group name> dialog box appears.

  • Refresh button: Serves to refresh the status view when the dialog remains open.
  • Show All Button: In the right window of the Computers tab a list of additional software packages is displayed; these packages are installed on the selected computer, but have not been assigned to this computer. The software packages do not affect the status and their icons are grayed out. Only those Empirum packages are displayed that have been installed via the kiosk.
The Show All button is hidden in the Packages and OS Templates tabs.
  • Stop button: Stops the refresh process of the status view.
  • Without Errors, Undefined, With Errors: Displays the overall number of the computers or software packages displayed on the left side which have been assigned the respective status.
    • Error-free: Number of computers / software packages, where each software package for the selected computer or each computer for the selected software package has been installed correctly.
    • Undefined: Number of computers / software packages, where no information on the installation process is available yet.
    • With Errors: Number of computers / software packages, where errors have occurred during installation.

OS-Templates Tab

The status view lists operating systems and determines whether the operating systems detected in the inventory are consistent with the assigned OS template.

Manager_Status_001

  • Identical, Similar, Another:
    • Green: The template OS is consistent with the installed OS (or no OS template has been assigned to the client).
    • Yellow: The template OS is similar to the installed OS (there is a difference in the service pack version or the installed operating system is unknown).
    • Red: The template OS is different from the installed OS.
If the system has not been assigned an OS template, the green status is assumed, independent of the operating system installed on this system.
If the system has been assigned an OS template and the data from the inventory and the OS installation log are missing, then the status is flagged yellow, since it is not clear which operating system is really installed on the client.
  • Template name: Describes the name of the template, as integrated with Empirum.
  • Operating system: Describes the operating system included in the template.
  • Existing OS: Describes the operating system installed on the system, as determined by Empirum.
  • Activate: Describes the activation status of the assigned OS template.
  • Installation: Displays the status (Identical, Similar, Another) of the installed operating system.
  • Install time: Describes the time and date of operating system installation.

Lower Frame in the OS Template tab

  • Operating System: The operating systems detected by the inventory, within the selected configuration group, which have been installed on the system, but have not been assigned via a template.
  • Version: Describes the version of the operating system.
  • Service pack: Describes the current service pack version of the operating system.
  • Language: Describes the installed operating system language.
  • Number: Describes the number of detected operating systems.

The Web Console does not provide a possibility to interrupt the loading of status information; therefore alarms are displayed when too many objects need to be loaded into the left column/list..

If, for instance, the status dialog for a configuration group with many (several hundreds of) systems is opened, loading would take very long.

An alarm is displayed from 500 objects onwards.

  • An alarm is displayed from 500 objects onwards: If the left column/list contains 500 objects or more, an alarm is displayed informing the user that loading might take very long and asking if the action shall be continued or not..
  • Loading is aborted if 5000 or more objects must be loaded: If the left column/list contains 5000 objects or more, an alarm is displayed informing the user that the status cannot be displayed.

It is possible to override these two threshold values in the Options table.
