To facilitate trouble-shooting for installations with Empirum packages and to check what exactly has failed where on the client, there is the option to write debugging information into a log file on the client with Setup.exe.

To enable the writing of debug information for a package:

  1. Go to Configuration > Software Management > Depot tab to select the software package for which a debug log file shall be created.
  2. Go to the Edit > Properties menu.
The Package Properties window will be displayed.
    SWM_Depot_020
  3. Go to the Check tab.
    SWM_Depot_022
  4. Enter the additional parameter /B Debug File Name in the Command field to make it possible to write the debug information for this package. Alternatively, the SetupDebugLog variable can be used; it contains the value /B%Temp%\Packagename.log.
    Example:
    "%Setup%" %SetupParms% "%Check%" /AW /S2 /B%Temp%
    "%Setup%" %SetupParms% "%Check%" /AW /S2 %SetupDebugLog%

If the writing of debug information shall be enabled for all packages, the parameter /B must be added to the SetupParms variable.

  5. Click OK to confirm.
  6. Now the debug information of Setup.exe is written into a log file to the specified location when the package is installed.
