The "Matrix42 Empirum Subdepot" package must be installed, unless you want to synchronize via SMB protocol.

We recommend to always install the Empirum Master server to prepare the server for any protocols.

To configure the Empirum Master Server:

  1. Launch the Empirum Management Console and go to Management > Administration in the navigation pane.
    Sync_MasterServer_001
  2. Drag your Empirum Master Server, in this example, PEG-REF-M1, to the MasterServer configuration group in the middle window.
  3. Right-click your Empirum Master Server (PEG-REF-M1) in the middle window and select Variables... in the context menu.
The Variables dialog box is displayed.
    Sync_MasterServer_002
  4. Double-click the SUBDEPOT variable or click Bearbeiten Edit.
    Sync_MasterServer_003
  5. Mark the ROOTPATH variable and click Bearbeiten Edit.
  1. Uncheck the Empty Value box and enter the local path to the Empirum directory under Value (in this example, C:\Empirum).
    Sync_MasterServer_004
  2. Click OK.
Again, the Variables dialog box is displayed.
  3. Mark the USER_1 variable and click Bearbeiten Edit.
  1. Uncheck the Empty value box and enter the user name under Value (in this example, EmpAgent).
    Sync_MasterServer_006
  2. Click OK.
Again, the Variables dialog box is displayed.

Three variables (user name and password) are available.

  3. Mark the PASSWORD_1 variable in the Variables dialog box and click Bearbeiten Edit.
  1. Uncheck the Empty value box and enter the password for the specified user under Value and Confirm value.
    Sync_MasterServer_007
  2. Activate the option "Use internal Empirum Infrastructure Encryption".
  3. Click OK.

The entered password will be verified and entered into the database with a AES256 encryption.
Even an empty password creates these entries in the database and then in the %ComputerName%.ini file!

Again, the Variables dialog box is displayed.
  4. Mark the TOKENCOUNT variable in the Variables dialog box and click Bearbeiten Edit.
  1. Uncheck the Empty value box and enter at least 1 under Value.
    Sync_MasterServer_008
  2. Click OK.

The TOKENCOUNT must always be ≥ 1.

Again, the Variables dialog box is displayed.
    Sync_MasterServer_009
The values for the variables you have created are now displayed; in the Inheritance column, these variables are marked as Modified.
  3. Click OK to close the Variables dialog box.
The Empirum-Activation service is used to write these variables into the file .\Empirum\Configurator\Values\MachineValues\Domain\ComputerName.ini.
The Matrix42 Empirum Subdepot package is used to read out these variables, which are used for authentication purposes and as path name, where the Empirum directory structure shall be created (drive and path).
  4. Click Start > Execute and enter \\EmpirumServer\Configurator$\User into the window (in this example, PEG-REF-M1).
  5. Click OK.
  6. Double-click the SwDepot.exe file.
  7. Go to the Empirum tab and mark the Matrix42 Empirum Subdepot package.
    Sync_MasterServer_011
  8. Click Install..
The package Matrix42 Empirum Subdepot will be installed on the Empirum Master Server.
The rsycn daemon and the iperf daemon will also be installed on the server.

If you want to ensure that this package is installed again if the server is set up anew, the package must be assigned to the server and activated accordingly.

  9. Reboot the Empirum Master Server.

The configuration of the Empirum Master Server is now complete.
