With Empirum Sync, you can synchronize the data stocks (Empirum packages, source files for Empirum Installer, etc.) on one or several locations.
The source and the destination can be any available (network) directory.
For instance, the central Empirum Software Depot can be synchronized automatically for further locations. It is not relevant whether they are located on Novell, NT, or Linux servers. This is particularly important for distributed installations (e.g. headquarters with subsidiaries), since consistent distribution packages are required at every location.
If files are added to or removed from the source, or changes are made to files, Empirum Sync synchronizes these changes for all defined destinations.
If an Empirum Sync template is assigned and activated, the Empirum-Activation service creates a package, including the file EmpSync.syc, which contains all information required for the synchronization.
The package is stored in the directory .\Empirum\Configurator\Packages\Matrix42\SyncJobs\Template Name. This package is installed on the Assigned Empirum Server. After the installation, the Empirum Sync service can perform the synchronization task which has been defined in the Empirum Management Console via the template.
Prerequisites for distributing Empirum Sync templates:
- A completely installed and configured Empirum Server.
- Minimum is a Windows Server according to the actual system requirements.
- The Empirum Agent must be installed on the server where the Subdepot Package is installed.
- Both servers have been entered in the Empirum database via the Empirum Inventory.
