The Variable Definitions dialog serves to the creation of new variable definitions, or to modifying or deleting existing variable definitions.

The entries in the window on the left are filters for various views of the variables. Depending on which filter you click in the window on the left, the corresponding variables of the filter are displayed on the right side.

If you click in the window on the left, on the highest point Variables, then all variables of the selected location are always displayed.

1. Start the Empirum Management Console (EMC), change in the navigation pane to Management > Administration, and select Menu Extras > Variable definitions... or click on the Define Variables icon in the toolbar.
   
   • Add. Opens the Variable Definitions dialog window, where you can define a new variable.
   • Edit. Opens the Variable Definitions dialog window, where you can edit the previously selected variable.
   • Remove. Deletes the selected variable from the database, without any further prompting.
   • Import. Opens a window for importing variables (definitions and values) from files in XML or CSV format.
   • Export. Opens a window for importing variables (definitions and values) as files in XML or CSV format.
