Overview
Workflow Designer includes a centralized Functions framework: reusable logic, dynamic expressions, and data transformations you can use directly inside low-code workflow configurations, in Actions, Conditions, and Triggers, without custom development.
Functions Management Area
A dedicated Functions management area in Workflow Designer gives full visibility and control over all available functions: you can enable, disable, and configure them from one place.
Out-of-the-Box Function Library

Functions can also be used inside Workflow Triggers, enabling dynamic condition evaluation, for example, date-based or logical trigger conditions, and inside Compliance Rules.
Using Functions in the Expression Editor
Functions are available directly in the Expression Editor, wherever you define an attribute value, a condition, or a dynamic parameter. For any such field, you choose between:
- A static value
- Dynamic data (context-driven, e.g., a workflow parameter or a previous action's result)
- A function-based expression
To use a function: select the property in Workflow Designer, open the Expression Editor, choose Function, configure its parameters, and the result is used directly in workflow execution.
Current limitation: functions cannot be combined or nested; only one function per expression scope.
Custom Functions
Customers and partners can create custom functions using VBScript, defining input parameters, a return type, and the execution logic. Custom functions can then be reused across workflows and triggers just like the built-in ones, useful for domain-specific logic and transformations not covered by the OOTB library.
