How to activate a group:

  1. Right-click the computer you want to activate, and select Activate from the popup menu.
    The Activate dialog box appears.
    • Software/Operating System
      • PULL via DDS/DDC (Software packages only). All entries in the installation file SwDepot.ddc will be applied to the assigned software.

If you have selected several DDC files for the service Empirum-Activation in Empirum DBUtil, the DDC files will be stored in the directory \Empirum\Configurator\Values\ under MachineValues\Domain or UserValues\Domain.

      • Create Operating System configuration (OS.ini). If the activated computer has been assigned operating system templates, an OS.ini can be created.

This option is not active for the activation of users since operating system templates are only assigned to computers or groups.

      • Activate PXE (Reinstall Computer). The computer starts with the PXE-Bootimage at the next restart automatically.
    • Activate all assignments, both in configuration and assignment groups
    • Remote Management
Allows to start computers via LAN and to control the reboot and shutdown behavior. Reboots for computers can be scheduled, which makes it possible to enforce operating system reinstallations for computers in operation.
The reboot behavior at package installations also can be steered. The parameter /RB stands to it for the software depository (Legacy agent) at the disposal.

When using WOL in the offline case, activation via the Matrix42 Management Console can be used.
Starting with Empirum version v22.0.1, the WakeOnLan service has been extended to send the "Magic Packet" to all existing network cards.
A "Directed Broadcast" is sent if the IP address and the subnet mask are known in addition to the MAC address. If only the MAC address is known, a broadcast is sent to the subnet 255.255.255.255.
The following requirements must be met for WOL to be functional in the offline case:
      1. The installation server must be entered directly on the client to be woken up (Properties > Empirum Server > Assigned Empirum Servers).
      2. In the status of the client to be woken up (right mouse button > Show Status), at least one package is displayed in yellow.
      3. When activating via the EMC in the middle tree, "Create operating system configuration (Os.ini)" must also be activated.
      4. WOL must be enabled in the Bios / EFI setup.

      • Use WOL. Select this box if you want to be able to start switched-off computers over the LAN.
      • Reboot/Shutdown. Click on Settings.
        • Type: Select the type of action of the computer.
        • Parameter:
          • Time between reminders: Lets you specify the time range between the reminders.
          • Force. If the box is marked, the selected action will be forced.
          • Time until execution :Lets you specify the time range when the system will force the selected action.
            • On: Lets you specify the time range when the system will start the computer.
            • Run now: The computer is woken up immediately as soon as the service starts the next time.
  2. Confirm the distribution options with Next.
You find the description of the individual parameters of the dialog under Commands.
    The Summary dialog opens.
  3. Check the settings and confirm with Finish.
The group is activated by means of the corresponding settings. Depending on the activation, the computer icons and the user colors vary.
