Preboot Execution Environment (PXE), is integrated in the BIOS of many new PCs equipped with a "LAN-On-Motherboard", and makes it possible to install computers via the network.
After a reboot (First Boot via LAN has to be enabled), the MAC address of a PXE-capable computer is entered into the Empirum PRO database. In this state, the computer is not yet qualified. It becomes a qualified computer if its name, IP address, and domain have been specified.
To qualify a not qualified computer, proceed as follows:
- Under the filter PXE > Not Qualified, select the computer to be qualified.
- Right-click, and select Qualify from the popup menu.
The Qualify PXE Computer dialog box appears.
- Specify the parameters of the computer you want to add, and confirm your entries with OK.
The following parameters are mandatory:
- Computer Name
- MAC Address
- Workgroup/Domain
- Domain
- IP Address
