Empirum Subdepot Webservice Configuration Package

This software package installs and configures Windows IIS for http(s) and FTP servers. Software distribution, patch management and inventory can use the http and https protocols for data transfer. FTP is required to install the Linux operating system.

If an IIS configuration exists on the server, a virtual directory is added to this configuration. To do so, it is necessary to install the Empirum subdepot package and to configure the SUBDEPOT variable accordingly.

If you get the error http installation fails – Port is already in use by another application while trying to install the SubDepot Webservices package, you have to check which other program is using the configured port (default is port 80). You can do this by using a tool like Nmap.

Following services are known for using port 80: SQL Server Reporting Service, other web services (Apache, IIS), Web Deployment Service Agent.

Please note that port 8080 is often used by Empirum Web Console.

The uninstallation of the package is successful even if errors occur while removing the Empirum configuration from IIS. This prevents that manual changes on these configurations block a reinstallation of the package. Information regarding the error can be found in SetupErrorLog and in the local log file on the computer.
