The Empirum Sync templates can be used to synchronize data (Empirum packages, source files for Empirum Installer, etc.) on one ore several locations. Any accessible (network) directory can serve as source and destination.

For instance, the central Empirum software depot can be synchronized automatically to other locations, independent of the respective server (Novell, Microsoft or Linux), which is particularly important for distributed installations (e.g., headquarters with subsidiaries), since distribution packages for all locations must be consistent.

If files are added to and/or removed from the source or if files are modified, Empirum Snyc synchronizes these changes on all specified destinations.

If an Empirum Sync template is assigned and activated, the Empirum Activation service creates a package containing all required synchronization information in the file EmpSync.syc.

The package is stored in the directory .\Empirum\Configurator\Packages\Matrix42\SyncJobs\Template-Name and installed on the assigned Empirum server. After installation, the Empirum Sync service can perform the synchronization job defined in the template in the Empirum Management Console on this server.

  1. Drag the required ESubdepot templates and/or the required RSubdepot templates into the configuration group of the Empirum depot server.

  2. Right-click the Configuration group (in this example, DepotServer) and select Aktivieren Activate (Pull via DDS/DDC, Commands: Install, Update).

To control the Empirum Sync jobs, right-click the Empirum depot server in the Empirum Management Console and select External Programs > Empirum Remote SyncMonitor. For immediate synchronization, mark the respective sync job and click Run now.
