There are two variants for distributing the information on the configuration of a computer (Computername.ini, Computername.ddc and OS.ini) and making it available on depot servers:

  • Global .With global distribution of the configuration files, the configuration files are available on every depot server after the respective synchronization. The advantage of this synchronization is that clients do not have to be assigned to servers, which can be time-consuming, and a client can connect to any depot server. However, this is accompanied by a loss of performance, as a large number of files have to be synchronized. With a high number of computers and depot servers, this load cannot be handled by the infrastructure (service bus) and may lead to errors.
  • Assigned. In the case of distribution based on the assignment of computers to depot servers, only the files of the assigned computers are available on the depot servers. This requires a pre-configuration in the form of the assignment and a suitable infrastructure (a client has fixed depot servers). The advantage is better performance and less load than with global distribution.

This setting only affects UEM Depot Management Sync version 3.0 or higher.
