This section defines environment variables that can be used to better adapt the configuration to different environments. They can be used via %Variable%, where "Variable" stands for a real variable. These variables are used in addition to the environment variables of the system (usually set in AUTOEXEC.BAT or in the registry).
If the symbol '~' is placed before a variable, then the short file name is used after the '~' symbol has been removed. As is the case with Setup, values from the registry and ini files can also be used (see documentation on Setup).
-
Variable=Value
Defines an environment variable that can be used like other variables that have already been defined.
Example (definition): ServerDir=\\INSTALL_DE\Sys\De\Windows\Install
Example (usage): %ServerDir%%~ServerDir%%ServerDir%\Test
In addition to the environment variables, there is a variety of predefined internal variables which can also be accessed via a % symbol. The following table provides an overview of these variables. Neither the internal variables nor the defined variables are case-sensitive. Validation by Setup checks the internal variables first, then the environment variables. The variables from PackageID to Check vary from package to package and always refer to the current package.
