Creating Reports and Charts Using Natural Language with Neo
Table of Contents
Overview
Instead of manually configuring a reporting widget, you can describe what you want to see in natural language, and Neo creates the corresponding visualization directly in the Reporting Toolkit.
Neo interprets your request, identifies the relevant business objects, metrics, time periods, and grouping options, and generates a suitable chart or KPI widget using the available enterprise data. For example, a Service Desk Manager can ask Neo to "Show the Mean Time to Resolution (MTTR) trend over the last 12 months, grouped by incidents and service requests." Neo generates the chart and adds it to the dashboard, so you can immediately explore the result.
You can refine the visualization further through conversation, for example requesting a different chart type, an additional filter, a different grouping, or an adjusted time period.
Generated widgets become part of the standard Reporting Toolkit, so you can review, customize, and manage them alongside your other reports.
Creating a Widget Conversationally
- Open Neo from a dashboard or report in the Reporting Toolkit.
- Describe the widget you want in natural language, for example: "Show the Mean Time to Resolution (MTTR) trend over the last 12 months, grouped by incidents and service requests."
- Neo identifies the relevant data source, metric, time frame, filters, and grouping, and selects a suitable visualization type, such as a KPI card, chart, table, comparison, or time-series view.
- Review the generated widget in the preview before saving it.
- Refine the widget through follow-up instructions if needed, for example asking for a different chart type, an additional filter, a different grouping, or an adjusted time period.
- Save the widget to add it to the dashboard. It becomes part of the standard Reporting Toolkit, so you can review, customize, and manage it alongside your other reports.
If a request is ambiguous or not supported, Neo asks a clarifying question or provides clear feedback instead of generating an incorrect widget. Generated widgets respect your existing permissions and data-access rules.
