1. Right-click Empirum-DeviceDiscovery in the left directory tree and select Add from the context menu.
  2. Click Install in the right window to install the Empirum Device Discovery service on a server.
Now you can enter your settings for the new service in the Empirum-DeviceDiscovery tab:
  • Server Name: Enter the name of the server where the service shall be installed. The default value is the name of the server on which you are currently doing the installation.
  • Server IP: Specify the server IP. If you have already entered the server name, the DD_DBUtil_001 button will automatically enter the related server IP
  • Directory of data files: Specifies the directory of the data files, i.e., for each detected device a file will be written which will be stored in this directory and read in by the Inventory service.
  • Directory of configuration files: Specifies the directory of configuration files. The default setting always has the following option enabled:
    • Use standard directory of configuration files: The standard directory of the configuration files is <EmpirumServer>\Configurator$\User\<EmpirumServer>.

If you want to create your own directory for the configuration files, you must ensure that you create a directory for each server; otherwise the configuration may be overwritten due to identical naming.

  • Directory of log files: Specify the directory of log files. The default path is: <EmpirumServer>\Configurator$\Log

A log is always bound to a client. To show the log in the Empirum Management Console, the Device Discovery server must be created as a client.

  • Installation Log On: Allows you to specify credentials, which must then be made in the Installation Log On tab.
  • Service Log On: Allows the specification of a service user account, which must then be made in the Service Log On. The service is then started via this user account.
